Unusual transmission noises, loss of drive, or shifting concerns may require diagnosis of internal components. Certified Transmission in Gladstone, MO can assess your transmission and discuss repair, rebuild, or replacement options. This video explains planetary gears, which are used in many automatic transmissions.
What Is a Planetary Gear Set?
A planetary gear set combines a sun gear, planet gears, a carrier, and a ring gear. Controlling how these components rotate allows a transmission to produce different gear ratios in a compact assembly.
Diagnosing Internal Transmission Concerns
A noise or shifting symptom does not establish that a gear set has failed. Evaluation may involve operating checks, scan data, fluid inspection, and additional testing. Internal inspection may be necessary before the extent of damage and repair options can be confirmed.
